Does Your Job Define You?
How many of us measure our work by what job we do? American society measures too quickly our worth this way. There is a separation between mental and physical work. Those doing the mental work get paid more. Those doing the labor jobs, which are just as important as any other, get paid less. The mental jobs seem to have greater status.
Universities and Colleges train us all to thinks that way. Yet, this is not how God thinks. In fact, the Founding Fathers of our Country knew this was not correct. The Declaration of Independence states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”
The Scripture finds that God is impartial. God is not impressed with our titles, no matter how much the world esteems us. We will never find significance in our professions, our job titles or even our products. But we will find significance as we do our work, whatever it is, if we perform it heartily, as a sacrifice to The Lord.
When you come to my office seeking legal help, do know I consider everyone as equal and will treat you as such throughout our time together. I cannot do it any other way.
